Briefly about the area of residence. The main monument is the Great Synagogue on Dohany Street, the largest in Europe and the second in the world after the New York Synagogue. The Great Synagogue was built in 1859 in the Jewish quarter by the Viennese architect Ludwig Förster. A truly fundamental building, with three huge rooms in the Moorish style, and a tower height of 44 meters and an internal area of 1200 meters, accommodating up to 3,000 worshipers. In 1990, the restoration of the Synagogue ended, which was carried out, among other things, with the donations of Este Lauder, a Hungarian Jew by birth. the exposition includes the Holocaust Cemetery, the Emmanuel Memorial Tree and the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park, which saved tens of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. The price of a visit to the Great Synagogue, as some tourists say is unreasonably high (around 15 euro), others say it's worth it.

Since the apartment is located at the border of the Jewish quarter of Budapest, there are several more synagogues nearby, including the Synagogue on Rumbach Street. At the time of writing this text, the external facade has already been renovated, and the synagogue is promised to be opened soon for visiting. Our advice on the Jewish quarter - do not ignore it, it is a very atmospheric area, with many pubs, including the ruin pubs, memorials, there is a flea market open on Fridays and weekends. Overall an interesting area to visit.
