Beautiful studio in the 6th district near Andrássy Avenue
The apartment is located next to Andrássy Avenue, the main entrance to Budapest, the Hungarian Champs Elysees, the analogue of King’s Road in London, Nevsky in St. Petersburg, Ginza in Tokyo, Broadway in New York and so on. The avenue is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was decreed to be built in 1870, to discharge the parallel Király utca from heavy traffic and to connect the inner city parts with the City Park. which is also not far from the rented studio. In 1876 construction was completed, and it was named from the then Prime Minister Gyula Andrássy.
The street became very popular for the city nobility, everyone strove to build his own house there, and settle there. There are basically no identical houses there. The street was opened on the millennial anniversary of the acquisition of the homeland by the Hungarians, on August 20, 1876. In Soviet times, the avenue was known under the names of Stalin, Youth, People’s Republic, but with the collapse of the Soviet Union, it regained its name.
It worth to walk along Andrássy Avenue, you can go to the boutiques, there are less than in London, but the prices are cheaper. What else is interesting on Andrássy Avenue? Heroes' Square and the Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts, the House of Terror and the Ferenc Liszt Museum, the Postal Museum, the Drexer Palace, the Ferenc Liszt Academy, the Zoltan Kodály Museum, the Ernst Museum and the Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art. There are many cafes and restaurants where you can eat. So a walk along Andrássy Avenue can be quite eventful.
The first metro line in Europe is operating under Andrassy Avenue, the yellow line. The underground were already running in Budapest in 1896, 23 years later than in London.
The Szondi street, where our royal studio is waiting for you, is a quiet street, that got its name in honor of the son of the Hungarian people, who defended Dregely castle in northern Hungary from the Turkish army of Ali Pasha in 1552. Szondi's army fought heroically to defend the castle until their deaths. Szondi was killed, his head was cut off, but Ali Pasha ordered to make a sarcophagus for him and bury him with honors as a hero, since Ali Pasha offered Szondi to surrender and stay alive, but he choose to die.
The statue of George Szondi stands on the same Andrássy Avenue just 300 meters from our apartment.
